Brew a shot of espresso using an espresso machine or prepare a strong cup of coffee using your preferred brewing method.
In a separate container, steam the milk until it's hot and has a velvety texture. If you don't have a milk steamer, you can heat the milk in a microwave or on the stove until hot, then whisk vigorously to create froth.
In a tall glass, add the caramel syrup or sauce to the bottom.
Pour the shot of espresso or strong coffee over the caramel.
Gently pour the steamed milk over the espresso, holding back the froth with a spoon to let it settle on top. This creates the signature "macchiato" effect, where the milk "marks" the coffee.
If desired, top your Caramel Macchiato with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce for an indulgent touch.
Stir the caramel and espresso together before sipping to enjoy the rich, sweet, and coffee-forward flavor.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the caramel syrup to your preferred level of sweetness and customize the milk type (whole, skim, almond, etc.) to suit your taste.
