Aloo Pitika / Aloo Chokha
Aloo Pitika is a traditional dish from the state of Assam, India. It is a simple dish made of mashed potatoes mixed with various spices and herbs. In the northern India a similar version of this recipe is called Aloo Chokha. Here is a recipe for making Aloo Pitika:
Equipment
- 1 Mixing Bowl
- 1 Non Stick Pan
Ingredients
- 4-5 medium potatoes boiled and mashed
- 2 green chilies finely chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp mustard oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add the mashed potatoes, green chilies, cilantro, turmeric powder, mustard oil, and salt.
- Mix everything together well.
- Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into small, flat round cakes.
- Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the aloo pitika on the pan and cook until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve the aloo pitika hot with chutney or dal.
Notes
You can also add other ingredients like chopped onions, tomatoes, or ginger to the mixture for added flavor.
