Rava Uttapam (Semolina Pancake)
Rava Uttapam is a popular South Indian breakfast recipe made from semolina (also known as sooji or rava). It's a quick and easy dish that can be made in minutes and is perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack.

Ingredients
- 1 cup semolina suji or rava
- 1/2 cup curd yogurt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder optional
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped capsicum bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together semolina, curd, water, salt, and red chili powder (if using). Mix well to form a smooth batter. Cover and let the batter rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once hot, spread some oil on the pan.
- Take a ladle full of the batter and pour it onto the center of the pan. Spread it gently in a circular motion to form a thick pancake-like shape.
- Add some chopped onion, tomato, capsicum, and coriander leaves on top of the pancake. Gently press them down into the batter.
- Drizzle some oil on top and around the edges of the pancake. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the pancake and cook the other side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney, tomato chutney, or sambar.
